Feasibility Study of Urban Farming Businesses in SF

In 2010, Cultivate SF will conduct a feasibility study examining the opportunities and challenges faced by urban farming entrepreneurs in San Francisco and recommend policies to support them. The report will include a financial analysis of the operations of an existing urban farm – Little City Gardens – as well as analyses of other urban farming businesses in the Bay Area and across the country.  Additionally, the report will highlight the obstacles that hinder the growth of urban farming within San Francisco and offer policy recommendations to address those obstacles.  Cultivate SF will print a small number of copies of the report for targeted distribution through key policy organizations, urban farming networks, and food policy councils both locally and nationally. We will also make the report available for free online.

Urban Farm Tours and Presentations

Cultivate SF educates school groups and the general public about the economic challenges and innovative approaches to small-scale food production through presentations and tours of an existing urban farming business -- Little City Gardens in the Mission District.
